The Coast of Legends

Enjoy a comfortable stay at Slow Village, our hotel surrounded by nature in Breizh Légendes in northern Finistère, and explore a stretch of wild and enchanting coastline: the Côte des Légendes.

Where is the Côte des Légendes?

The Côte des Légendes is a small stretch of the Brittany coastline located in northern Finistère, about 30 minutes by car from the seaside resort of Brest.

It stretches for nearly 15 km between the towns of Guissény and Goulven. It also includes the sandy beaches and territories of Kerlouan, Brignogan-Plage, and Plounéour-Trez.

You can also consult our map of northern Finistère.

Landscapes and nature on the Côte des Légendes

The Côte des Légendes in northern Brittany is a wild and rugged coastline that appeals to lovers of nature and wide open spaces.

As you fill your lungs with the salty sea air, you'll discover sandy beaches and imposing cliffs plunging into the sea, a striking contrast that reflects the strong character of the locals. Enjoy walks along the coastal paths to discover hidden coves and pebble beaches, with views in the distance of Île Vierge, Île de Batz, and many other Breton treasures.

This coastline is home to three Natura 2000 classified areas: Goulven Bay, the Langazel peat bog in Ploudaniel, and the Curnic marsh in Guissény.

These three protected natural areas are a delight for hikers and birdwatchers, who can use their binoculars to observe rare bird species in their natural habitat.

The rocks, which are everywhere, play a major role on the Côte des Légendes. They come in all sizes and shapes. If you take the time to observe them, you can sense an aura of mystery hanging over these enormous blocks of granite.

What secrets do they hold? Some locals claim that they are giants turned to stone. On sunny days, the Côte des Légendes is a life-size playground ideal for swimming and many water activities such as surfing, kitesurfing, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, sand yachting, and fishing on foot or at sea, depending on the tides.

Other outdoor activities such as rock climbing, trail running, and cycling are also popular here. Like the rest of the Brittany coastline, this stretch of coast is crossed by the GR34, or Customs Officers' Trail.

For a few hours or a few days, you will follow the trail that runs along the cliffs and sometimes ventures onto the beaches of Finistère. Whether you are a casual walker or an experienced hiker, it is difficult to remain indifferent to the landscapes of northern Finistère.

The route has a slight incline. The walks are suitable for children and you can easily adjust the length of your hike.

The Côte des Légendes takes on a different look in each of the four seasons.
In spring and autumn, when the light is exceptional, it attracts painters, photographers and writers who come here to draw their inspiration. And of course, don't leave without seeing a dolmen!
