Bike paths in Biscarrosse: the most beautiful bike routes

Take advantage of the greenways and forest paths to easily cycle from the seaside resort to Biscarrosse Lac or Biscarrosse-bourg from our hotel surrounded by nature in Biscarrosse Slow Village!

And if you haven't brought your own two wheels, there are plenty of shops offering bike hire in Biscarrosse.

Biscarrosse and its network of cycle paths

Biscarrosse is an ideal destination if you like to get around by bike during your vacations, as the Vélodyssée runs right through the area between the lake and the ocean.

All the villages surrounding the Great Lakes are linked by a network of bicycle paths.

Touring one of the lakes, going to the beach on the ocean side and to the market in Biscarrosse-bourg, or simply strolling through the pine forest: in Biscarrosse, everything can be done by mountain bike.

There are several bike rental companies in the area, at the resort, in the village, and on the shores of Lake Cazaux and Sanguinet.

You can rent road bikes, mountain bikes, electric bikes, as well as trailers or tag-alongs for children.

Everything you need to know about Biscarrosse's cycle paths

Renowned for its cycling, the Landes region, and especially the Grands Lacs area around Biscarrosse, favors soft modes of transport.

The Vélodyssée, Europe's longest cycle route, runs along the Atlantic coast from northern Brittany to the French-Spanish border. The route crosses the Biscarrosse area, connecting Arcachon in the north, Parentis to the east of the hydrobase, and other villages in the Pays de Born region to the southern Landes.

Other bike paths have been created in the Biscarrosse area and around the lakes:

  • In the seaside resort of Biscarrosse-Plage
  • In the town of Biscarrosse-ville
  • Along the Etang de Cazaux, from Biscarrosse to Sanguinet
  • Or to Parentis-en-Born and from Parentis to Ychoux

All cycle routes in the Biscarrosse and Grands Lacs area are clearly signposted.

Cycling itinerary: our favorites

TheVélodyssée itinerary linking Biscarrosse to Arcachon: 25 kilometers of cycle paths that follow the coastline along forest tracks, passing the beaches of Salie, Lagune and Petit-Nice.

One of the highlights of the cycle tour is a stop at the Pilat Dune, Europe's highest dune at 110 meters high, which is always in motion.

The outward journey will take you less than two hours, so you can ideally plan this hike as a day trip, with a stopover at the Dune du Pilat and a visit to Arcachon and its oyster ports on arrival.
