The Breton coastline is a fabulous playground for lovers of walking and grandiose landscapes. The legendary GR34 customs path zigzags up and down the coast, offering lovely views of cliffs, coves and lonely lighthouses.
For a long hike or an hour's stroll with the family, the options are numerous. Dunes, deserted beaches and wooded paths invite contemplation, all in a wild and unspoilt setting.
Water activities for young and old
Brittany can also be discovered from the sea. In a protected bay, you can easily learn to paddle, kayak or even sail. For adrenaline-seekers, surfing, sand yachting and diving are also available on certain beaches.
Many watersports centres offer half-day sessions, ideal for trying out new sensations in complete safety.
Relaxation and idleness
Sometimes, the greatest luxury is simply to do nothing. On a white sandy beach or in the hollow of a sheltered cove, you settle down to read, dream or fall asleep lulled by the sound of the waves.
And to take relaxation even further, why not opt for a wellness break at a marine spa or thalasso center? Between a seaweed bath and a Breton oil massage, relaxation is total.
Local discoveries
Every corner of Brittany has its own soul and traditions. Small fishing ports exude authenticity, as do markets where you can sample fresh local produce. In the cobbled streets of the villages, you'll discover craftsmen's workshops, confidential galleries and, of course, excellent crêperies where you can linger over a bowl of cider.
If you're lucky, you may come across a local fête or fest-noz, those Breton evenings when music and dance warm the heart.
